ChicTrends: Sheer Skirts & Bare Midriffs

Crop Top: Foreign Exchange, Belt: Cotton On, Sheer Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Wedges: Old Navy

I was ecstatic when I received an e-mail from ChicTrends to participate in their June contest. Choosing two trends to blog about was actually difficult because I wanted to do every single trend. But I narrowed it down to two trends that I'm absolutely loving. These two trends are go perfectly together. Because of the high waist of the skirt, it gives just enough room for the crop top to hit and show some skin. It provide a classic look and highlights the waist and curves of the body.
Click on each trend to visit their ChicTrends page where you can learn more about these trends and how you can style them!

Sheer skirts are the ultimate way of pulling of a sexy look in a subtle classy way. I'm a sucker for anything that flows so this skirt was perfect for the trend. The sheer chiffon material blew gracefully in the wind and gives little peeks to my legs. It's definitely a trend I'll be rocking all year 'round!

I don't know if you've noticed but I'm obsessed with crop tops. Because of that, I've been showing off my midriff more (and the fact that I need to do a few sit-ups) and I have to admit, I love showing some skin! Showing off your midriff has the same effect as the sheer skirt; it's sassy but classy.

So there you have it. Two trends I've been loving this season. I feel as if these two trends are going to be around for a long time though, they're classic looks! This was such a fun post to put together. I'd like to extend a huge thank you to ChicTrends for hosting this contest!

Let me know what trends you all are loving this season! I'd love to read about them :)

Hope you all are having a great week!

Cool Down

Top: H&M, Shorts: TJ Maxx, Shoes: H&M, Bag: Michael Kors, Sunglasses: Gap

On a hot summer day, what better way to cool down that with a flowy pair of shorts, breezy top, and a nice venti iced chai tea latte?

Schools over, summer is here.

New experiences, new beginnings.

Hope you all are doing well!

Off The Edge

Tee: Marc Jacobs 'Fist' Tee, Skirt: Cotton On, Sneakers: Converse, Necklace, F21

To say that I'm obsessed with this shirt is an understatement. I've probably worn it four days out of the week for the past month straight. It's just a light, soft, casual staple graphic tee that you can dress up or dress down for simply any outing. Tee's like this are so versatile! Dig through your closet to find that one tee that you can wear with high waisted shorts, skirts, or even over dresses as your spring/summer essential.

I paired it with my circle skirt that you all know I'm also in love with. When it comes down to it, you don't need thousands of clothes and a jam packed closet. With the right essentials and complimenting accessories, you can make a dozen outfits with just a few pieces of clothing.

Stay tuned for a Spring 2013 lookbook video coming up.

Hope you all enjoy!

To Infinity

Dress: SheInside, Heels: H&M

I received this gorgeous galaxy dress from SheInside after winning a giveaway hosted by Adriana from the amazing fashion blog, Fake Leather. I highly suggest giving both sites a visit and I promise you won't be disappointed. I was excited that I had won this giveaway because, (1) I never win giveaways, and (2) I don't own anything of the galaxy print revolution. It's an understatement to say that I screamed my lungs off when I found out I won the giveaway (you can ask anyone in my family, I went ballistic) and I'm happy to show you all the beautiful dress.

I wore it for my birthday, naturally. I love the scoop neck and the length of this dress. My family criticized it for being to short but being a short person, it was the perfect length for me. I initially wanted to wear it with a pair of black or dark colored heels to amp up the edge, but I stupidly forgot them at my dorm. So instead, I wore it with a pair of studded heels from H&M which surprisingly complimented the dress well.

I'm planning to do a video on how to style a galaxy dress since I know it's no the easiest print to work with. So stay tuned!

Hope you all enjoy!

Light As Feathers

Top: Thrifted, Shorts: Thrifted, Sandals: Unknown

Follow me on Instagram: @styleinfatuation

As Spring progresses, I have become attracted to earthy color schemes and prints. This feather printed top and casual two toned shorts sum up the nature loving mood I've been in. It might be the fact that being surrounded by blooming flowers and lively trees has tapped the inner Pocahontas in me that I feel this connection with Mother Nature. I paired this (amazingly thrifted) orange-esque top with contrasting navy and green speckled shorts.

Because the feather print is so loud, the small pattern of the shorts compliments it well. And as if I didn't already have enough going with this outfit, I threw on a pair of statement sandals. But here I give you all an example of how I think mixing prints and patterns can be done subtly. One bold piece in combination with one smaller patterned piece go together perfectly.

Hope you all a good weekend!

Spring Forward

Dress: eShakti, Necklace: Stella & Dot, Watch: MBMJ, Bag: Dooney & Burke, Heels: Steve Madden

Spring has finally arrived and the only thing I want to do is whip out my spring wardrobe and bask in the warm sun, starting with this dress that I received from eShakti. If you watched my February Haul + Favorites video (keep scrolling down!) you know that I mentioned personally customizing this dress to fit my body and was excited to wear it out. The perfect occasion came up and today, Palm Sunday, I slipped on this perfect-for-Spring floral dress. I'm in love with it! I adore the mesh shoulders and the flirty skirt bottom. It's such a sweet piece! I know that Spring universally means flower power and when it comes to floral prints, I like to keep it the focus so I went minimal accessories and these sky high (at least for me) heels.

To me, Spring is all about fresh and simple and this outfit is the perfect example.

Hope you all enjoy!

SIV: February Haul + Favorites

Sorry this video is going up in the middle of March, I know, it's long overdue. I'll be posting more often since it's getting closer to spring break! I have been basking in the warm weather we've been having lately here in California.

Hope you guys enjoy!

Wild Child

Top: F21, Skirt: Cotton On, Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell 'Litas', Sunglasses: Ray Ban

When I saw this leopard printed skirt at Cotton On, I knew it had to be mine. Prints are such statement pieces that are essential to every wardrobe. I like to wear loud patterns with neutral or colored pieces because I want the print to be the eye-catcher of the outfit. Sometimes mixing prints can be dangerous because everything you're wearing may be fighting for attention and there's no easy place to lay the eyes. So when it comes to wild and crazy prints, I suggest either pairing them with neutral or bold colors to keep the statement piece of your choice the center of the outfit. If you want to mix and match prints, pick one loud piece and one subtle printed piece so that your ensemble balances out.

School's been crazy hectic. Impatiently counting down the days until spring break (I'm sure you can all relate).

SIV: Everyday Makeup Routine + New Hair!

***This video was recorded over a month ago but I haven't gotten a chance to upload it until now. Don't forget to watch in HD!

Wearing makeup everyday is just another one of the many things I love about being a girl. Getting ready in the morning is the best way to start my day. I can't exactly explain it, but makeup is so fun to play with! In this video, you'll get to see how I get ready for my days (mostly at school). Everyday makeup routines are some of my favorite videos to watch on YouTube because it's interesting to see how much (or little) makeup girls use to conquer another day. Sorry for the brief hiatus, this semester is killing me! I'll be back to posting regularly again for the next week or so.

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day and enjoy the long weekend!

Exploring Berkeley

Top: Uniqlo, Sweater: Mango, Skirt: Cotton On, Bag: MBMJ

Over winter break, me and my boyfriend went to Berkeley to do some exploring. Even though we have lived in the Bay Area all our lives, we realized that neither of us had truly gone around Berkeley. We decided to go one day and had a blast. I was fascinated by the landscape of Berkeley. The old town streets with a mix of urban boutiques and unique restaurants. It was so much fun! We'll definitely be taking a trip back there.
This is the outfit I wore for our little date. I layered a polka dot printed denim top underneath this cream colored knit sweater and finished it off with a red circle skirt. I glammed it up with some black tights and Mary Jane style heels. I always try to perpetuate to everyone the affect a classic heel can do to any outfit. It immediately gives anyone a more sophisticated and respectable look, maybe because in heels, us girls tend to stand more straight with our heads held high. So, I challenge you ladies to add some heels to your next outfit! Whether it's for a night out with friends, to dinner, to the movies, or even just grocery shopping, you'll feel more powerful and fabulous! I know I did walking through the streets of Berkeley.

Hope you all enjoy!

eShakti

Blazer: Nordstrom, Top: eShakti, Pants: UO, Shoes: Tory Burch 'Reva' Flat, Earrings: ALDO

After receiving an e-mail from eShakti to review one of their products, I was ecstatic because it's the first time I've been offered to review anything for a company ever. I'm so thankful for the opportunity! I had never heard of the company before so I went on the site and found a wide range of products to choose from including dresses, top, bottoms, and more. The most interesting quality that sets them apart from other online stores is their vision for customization. Customers are able to specify their exact measurements, such as bust and waist size, so that their chic and beautifully crafted pieces fit perfectly on anyone. However if you're like me, and just stick to the basic choices of either S, M, or L, don't worry! They offer the standard sizes as well.
Initially I was going to try out a dress or a skirt but as soon as I laid eyes on this scalloped sequined shift top, I was sold. How gorgeous is this? I am absolutely in love with the craft that went into it and the best part is versatility. Dress it up for a night out or dress it down for casual lunch, this top has endless options. Because I wanted to keep the focus on the top, I wore a plain oatmeal colored blazer, coral pants, my beloved Tory Burch flats, and minimal accessories.

Hope you all enjoy!

SIV: What's In My Bag?

**watch in HD!

Welcome to my first ever  Style Infatuation Video (or SIV for short)!  I've been so anxious to have finally uploaded this video on YouTube and now that I finished editing and putting the final details to it, it's here! I'm so excited because I feel like this will take my blog to a different level. I also want to interact more with my readers on a personal level and be able to actually talk to you rather than type a bunch of words from a computer.
I decided to start off with the ever so loved, "What's In My Bag?" video that pretty much every girl does on YouTube. I won't tell you everything but I will say that I'm proud of this video and I hope you will like it as well! I can't wait to do more video for you all. Let me know what you think!

New Year

Sweater: F21, Riding Pants: Uniqlo, Shoes: Doc Martens, Animal Print Hat: H&M

I honestly can't believe it's already 2013. 2012 went by so fast I don't even remember a lot what happened but it proves that time is passing by so fast it's a must that we make the most of it. I'm thankful that I have my blog and one New Years Resolution that I have is to blog even more than I did in 2012. So here's to a New Year! I can't wait for all the adventures and excitement yet to come for this year.
Speaking of new, I'm absolutely IN LOVE with the maroon Doc Martens I received for Christmas (so so so thankful!). I have also been obsessed with these pair of olive green riding pants that I recently purchased from Uniqlo and I knew the instant I saw these pants that I was going to style it with my Docs. It was fate! Such a great neutral color combo for the cold weather. I layered a pair of gray socks to add some texture and topped it off with a knit black sweater. The animal print hat I added in just for fun because I barely got to wear it this winter. It definitely pops out against the basic outfit. When it comes to lace up ankle boots like Docs, I suggest layering patterned or colored socks to add some texture to an outfit.

Hope you all are having a great new year so far!
